Actress Carrie Fisher, known for her work as Princess Leia in the blockbuster series “star wars”, passed away. Born to Hollywood superstars Eddie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds, Carrie Fisher had a totally different childhood and lifestyle. She was a victim of several setbacks from a broken home, drug addiction, mental illness and negative publicity. What was even more appreciable was her comeback and fearless in terms of confronting the inner demons and for revealing the truth. Carrie had a remarkable success story in terms of overcoming substance problems and bipolar disorder for creating awareness fro the same. Apart from acting, she wrote several books one of which was adapted, giving Meryl Streep another scope for Oscar win for portraying Fisher; Postcards from the edge.
Carrie Fisher was a major part of ’70s kid’s childhood. In her reel life, Fisher’s portrayal of Princess Leia changed people’s perception about women in combat as she took authority in several situations, notably in the return of the Jedi where she killed “Jabba the Hutt” with the chain that was attached to her. Leia never bowed her head before anyone, she was willing to face her death with integrity when the Darth Vader sentenced her. As Luke and Han came to rescue her, Leia did her side on making tough calls for them to escape and even ensured Han kept his show-off attitude down a notch. She was a fighter and a leader. Leia is a character worth remembering and Fisher will live on along with the star wars universe.
Harrison Ford, who played iconic Han Solo, also Leia’s partner and love interest in star wars, released a statement.
“Carrie was one-of-a-kind … brilliant, original. Funny and emotionally fearless. She lived her life, bravely…My thoughts are with her daughter Billie, her Mother Debbie, her brother Todd, and her many friends. We will all miss her.”

“Devastated at this monumental loss,” Ridley wrote. “How lucky we all are to have known her, and how awful that we have to say goodbye.”
Her co-stars Anthony Daniels and Billy Dee Williams, who portrayed C-3PO and Lando Calrissian respectively.
